Skillet Lasagna

Easier and faster than the oven classic!

1 pound lean ground beef
1 can (14-1/2 oz) diced tomatoes, undrained
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1-1/2 cups ricotta cheese
4 cups Italian baking sauce (or just your fave spaghetti sauce works fine)
1 package (9 oz) no-cook lasagna noodles
1 cup (4 oz) shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese

Cook beef over medium heat (in a large skillet) until no longer pink; drain. Transfer to a bowl; stir in can of tomatoes. In another bowl, combine eggs and ricotta cheese. Return 1 cup of the meat mixture to the skillet; spread evenly. Layer with 1 cup ricotta mixture, 1-1/2 cups sauce and half the noodles. Repeat layers. Top with remaining sauce. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 15 minutes until noodles are tender. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese; let stand for 2 minutes before serving.

Uptown Funk, Movie-Style

There have been a lot of parodies and remakes of "Uptown Funk," but this one is inspired.

Someone who may or may not have too much time on his hands has spliced together snippets from movies to match up with the lyrics of the song.

Clips from 280 movies. It took three months to assemble.

And it truly is amazing.

Does Anyone Else Remember Soylent Green?

There's a new nutrition drink out there called Soylent 2.0.

It's an all-in-one meal replacement drink that's being touted as the future of nutrition.

Here's a quote from their blog: "Soylent 2.0 is designed from the ground-up to provide the vitamins, minerals, fats, carbohydrates, and protein that the body needs - all in a convenient, ready-to-drink package."

One of the main ingredients is algae, which the inventors say represents a sustainable food source.

They posted this video to their blog - I'm not 100% sure how it's selling Soylent 2.0, except for the package of it at the end...

But here's the question I have: did no one on the marketing team ever hear of a 1973 sci-fi pic starring Charlton Heston called Soylent Green?

It centered around a world where a food product called Soylent Green was in abundance and keeping the world alive.

The only problem... Well, don't let me spoil it for you. Watch Charlton Heston from the end of the film...

So maybe knowing that, the Soylent 2.0 marketing team could go back to the drawing board for a name?

Just sayin'...

Fuller House Underway

By now, you've heard about Netflix's reboot of Full House.

This one focuses on the adult life of DJ Tanner, played by Candace Cameron Bure, while she's surrounded by her friends and family.

Except for Michelle.

The Olsen Twins still won't sign on - it seems like the show is moving along without them.

Candace posted a selfie from the set on Sunday showing her with sister Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin) and best friend Kimmy Gimmler (Andrea Barber).

It will be interesting to see how Fuller House does in the Netflix formula...

Love these girls.

"Excuse Me, What Aisle Can I Find KISS In?"

File this one under "Why?"

As in why is KISS, the glam-rock-and-roll band, doing a promotional video for K-Mart?

I've watched it a few times to see if I can figure it out.

Sure, there are a few KISS items in there, and a couple of funny moments.

But where's the big tie-in?

Or maybe this is like a teaser trailer?

I don't know. Give it a look, see if it makes any sense to you..

KISS works at Wal-Mart

What would happen if KISS worked at Wal-Mart? Wal-Mart decided to find out in this fun promotional video.

Amy Schumer Gets Serious

Yesterday, Amy Schumer put her funny side aside for a little bit, and joined with her cousin, New York Senator Chuck Schumer, in a call for stronger gun control.

This in the wake of the horrible shooting in Louisiana at a screening of her new movie, Trainwreck.

Together, they announced Senator Schumer's new bill that would reward states "that submit records on felons, spousal abusers and the mentally ill to the federal background check system." That according to NBC News.

It's not a topic on which you'd expect a comedian to take a strong stand.

But on this topic, Amy Schumer is serious.

No Doubt About It, Gwen Stefani's Getting Divorced

It's official.

Gwen Stefani and her hubby Gavin Rossdale are calling it quits after 13 years of marriage.

They stopped short of making a Gwyneth Paltrow "conscious uncoupling" statement, but here's what they did have to say to US Weekly.

"While the two of us have come to the mutual decision that we will no longer be partners in marriage, we remain partners in parenthood and are committed to jointly raising our three sons in a happy and healthy environment. To that end, we respectfully request privacy from the media during this time."

TMZ's got the story.

And I can't help but wonder how long that "respectful privacy" will last...

The Exorcist Joins Game of Thrones

Veteran actor Max Von Sydow - perhaps most famous for his role in The Exorcist - has joined the Season 6 cast of Game of Thrones.

He'll be playing the Three-Eyed Raven, the mysterious and mystical tutor to Bran Stark (who didn't make a single appearance in Season 5).

I'm sure he'll be phenomenal.

But, wouldn't it be great to see him play a scene as The Exorcist, opposite the evil and thoroughly possessed Red Queen?

Someone call the show's story runners. I think we're on to something here...

No Matter What Your Tickets Cost, This Was Worth Every Penny

Fans of U2 got a major treat on Friday night when the band appeared at Madison Square Garden.

Bruce Springsteen, the king of New Jersey, was at the concert, and joined U2 on stage for a song or two.

It turned into a singalong for the entire venue as everyone joined in on "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For," and then "Stand By Me."

What a night. These fans will have a story to share for a long time.
