For the past 70 years East Liverpool High School in Ohio has had their choir sing the Lord's Prayer at graduation. This year they were told not to.
The Freedom From Religion Foundation filed a complaint with the school, and rather than go into an expensive legal battle the school just cut it from the ceremony. The school board president said,“It was a decision made because we don’t have a lot of money and we’d rather hire teachers than pay lawyers.”
The class valedictorian had a different idea. He decided to lead the crowd in reciting the Lord's Prayer. Everyone immediately joined in and at the end there was big applause.
It's Memorial D...Nope wait. It's Beyonce Day. Yes, the great state of Minnesota declared Monday, May 23rd as Beyonce Day prior to her concert. The Governor says Bey has inspired young women with powerful and positive messages in her songs.
If your first thought when hearing Angelina Jolie will be a professor is "Hot For Teacher," her subject matter might change that. She's been appointed a visiting professor at the London School of Economics.
Angelina will be helping teach students in the university's Centre for Women, Peace and Security. "I am very encouraged by the creation of this master's program. I hope other academic institutions will follow this example, as it is vital that we broaden the discussion on how to advance women's rights and end impunity for crimes that disproportionately affect women, such as sexual violence in conflict. I am looking forward to teaching and to learning from the students as well as to sharing my own experiences of working alongside governments and the United Nations."
Madonna was chosen to perform a tribute to Prince at this year's Billboard Music Awards. They were friends and both rose to stardom in the 1980's. What could go wrong?
She sang "Nothing Compares 2 U" followed by "Purple Rain," and included surprise guest Stevie Wonder. While critics said it did have emotion, it lacked the feel of a Prince performance and had no solo guitar (which was a Prince trademark).
In Madonna's defense, many had extremely high hopes for this tribute so they were likely to be disappointed no matter what.
When Beyonce's Lemonade was released it led many to accuse Jay Z of cheating on her. So why haven't they responded?
First, because the mystery sells WAY more albums! And second, if you believe this source, because they're going to respond with a secret album together.
According to the New York Post's Page Six, the source said: 'Jay and Beyonce were never going to do an interview to address all the questions that came up after Lemonade. It's more their style to respond through music.'
Sounds like a great business plan for their streaming service Tidal, so if they weren't going to do it before Jay and Bey should get started on a secret album now!
Blake Shelton performed with a mystery woman at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards Sunday night. Wait, was that Gwen Stefani?
The couple performed their duet "Go Ahead And Break My Heart." Blake said he wrote the song to impress Gwen, then sent it to her half finished. At that point she added a verse and sent it back. That's pretty freakin' adorable.
As cute as they were in their performance, many people (myself included) barely recognized Gwen Stefani. I think it was the lack of bright red lipstick.
